Open meeting

Women in the films of Hakim Noury From childhood to motherhood

Director Hakim Noury has paid particular attention to the theme of women in most of his films, giving them a significant place in several of his works, including "L'enfance violée" (1993), "Voleur de rêves" (1995), "Le destin d'une femme" (1998), "Elle est diabétique, hypertendue et elle refuse de crever" Part 1 (2000) and Part 2 (2005), "Une histoire d'amour" (2002), and "Le bout du monde" (2011). These films address female issues from childhood to motherhood in an emotional and social manner, diversifying cinematic approaches, oscillating between drama and comedy.

In homage to Hakim Noury's cinema, we wish to highlight during this meeting the cultural and artistic importance of what can be called "the feminine universe", going beyond its strict sense in a specific cinematic genre. Avoiding the clichéd expressions often used in this context, it has become necessary to emphasize the importance of the feminine question in cinema, viewed from an authentic perspective of femininity that is not limited solely to women but can also be generally found in men. Hakim Noury's cinema supports this vision.
