Meryem Jazouli is a Moroccan dancer and choreographer who has lived and worked in Casablanca since 1997. After studying dance in Paris and performing with several companies, she returned to Morocco to develop a distinctive artistic practice that combines contemporary dance, participatory projects and interdisciplinary collaborations. Deeply rooted in Casablanca, her work creates meaningful connections with diverse audiences. In 2011, she founded "Darja", a space dedicated to artistic creation, residencies and professional training, helping to nurture a new generation of Moroccan dancers until its closure in 2019. Alongside this initiative, she continued her work as a choreographer and performer, presenting "Folkah" in New York in 2020, a piece inspired by the traditional Guedra dance of southern Morocco. In 2022, she launched "Dérive Casablancaise", a project bringing together artists and cultural practitioners from across the Mediterranean around contemporary artistic writing and the performing arts. In 2023, she returned to the stage in "La Lecture", a solo created especially for her by choreographer Nacera Belaza. Since 2025, she has been developing "Avec les mots qui restent", an interdisciplinary creation where text, image, movement and music come together to create a shared space for artistic exploration.
