Seville, summer 1984. Rita, 7, and her brother Lolo, 5, grow up in a working-class family dominated by their father and his obsession with football. As Spain celebrates the European Cup, Rita begins to sense the fragility of her home and retreats into her imagination, in what becomes her last summer of innocence.

Paz Vega (born 1976) is a Spanish actor and filmmaker. Her breakthrough role in Julio Medem’s "Sex and Lucía" (2001) earned her a Goya Award and the Chopard Trophy at Cannes. She made her Hollywood debut in 2004 with James L. Brooks’s "Spanglish". Since then, she has worked with Pedro Almodóvar, Frank Miller, Oliver Parker, the Taviani brothers, Vicente Aranda, among others. "Rita" (2024) marks her debut as a director and screenwriter.
