In a coastal Moroccan village, Hnyia, a seaweed harvester, is shaken by the mysterious disappearance of her diver husband. Confronted with a domineering brother-in-law who denies her rights, she strives to assert herself as the head of the family. Algalam explores unresolved grief, patriarchal conflict, and women’s roles in inheritance and legacy.

Trained in film techniques in Paris, he was a founding member of the Khouribga African Film Festival and has directed several feature films including Mabrouk (1999), The Game of Love (2007), Where Are You, Days? (2010), Fidaa (2016), and Bitter Algae (2024), along with documentaries and TV programs. He also holds key roles in national film institutions.
