On the Dakar coast, the sea waves crush houses, plow cemeteries, and significantly erode the living spaces of the Lebou to the point of pushing them away from their traditional territory. My community, the indigenous population of Dakar, conservative, attached to its culture, the sea, and its fisherman identity, must face modernity and the difficulties related to fishing. All this has made their anchorage in traditional religion and social organization values fragile.

Graduated from Gaston Berger University in Saint-Louis, Senegal, with a Master’s in African literature, Ndèye Soukeynatou Diop enrolled in a Master’s program in creative documentary filmmaking. As part of this, she co-directed a short film titled "On Prison" and went on to direct the film " A Day with Moussa", which is part of a collection for Arte. Driven by her commitment to her community, she directed her first feature film, "Lebou", in Bargny.
