Born in Syria into a cosmopolitan family, Marya Zarif is an author, illustrator, screenwriter and director with a particular passion for animation. In 2020, she created, wrote and co-directed the children's animated series "Dounia", whose success led to the feature film "Dounia and the Princess of Aleppo". Presented at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, the film received several international awards, including honors at the LUCAS Festival in Germany and the Japan Prize. She is also the author and illustrator of books inspired by the world of Dounia.
André Kadi arrived in Canada in 2007 as a comic-book artist and musician before joining Frima, where he worked for more than eleven years and became artistic director. In 2012, he opened a 2D animation studio and directed series including "MaXi" and "Agent Jean". He co-founded Du Coup Animation with Marie-Michelle Laflamme in 2018, followed by Du Coup Production in 2021. A director and producer, he co-directed "Dounia and the Princess of Aleppo" with Marya Zarif and later "Hola Frida" with Karine Vézina.
