Catherine Bizern is a leading French programmer and advocate of auteur and documentary cinema. After working with the Rencontres du cinéma documentaire in Seine-Saint-Denis, she served as director of the "EntreVues" International Film Festival in Belfort from 2006 to 2012, where she developed a distinctive editorial vision dedicated to innovative cinematic voices. She later programmed several major film events, including "Cinéma du Québec à Paris" and "Le Jour le plus Court", while collaborating with internationally renowned festivals such as "Locarno" and "Côté Court". Since 2000, she has also worked as an independent producer and consultant in screenplay development, alongside teaching in professional training programmes and contributing to the cultural magazine ARTPRESS. In 2018, she was appointed General Delegate of "Cinéma du réel", one of the world's leading documentary film festivals. Until December 2024, she also directed the Centre des écritures cinématographiques du Moulin d'Andé, continuing her commitment to supporting filmmakers and fostering new forms of documentary creation.
