Rkia is a traditional, itinerant midwife who travels between cities and villages. She has overseen the births of many women, assisting them for free because she believes God has blessed her hands to help women, despite her children's refusal to support this work. Although Rkia has delivered many other women's babies, she was unable to handle the delivery of her own daughter. Rkia had to take her daughter to the hospital for the birth.
