Filmmaker, photographer, and visual artist Sophie Bachelier is interested in themes of migration, exile, memory, and unique destinies disrupted by collective history, which she strives to depict in various narrative forms. Her latest documentary films shot on the African continent tell, in a trilogy format, the story of clandestine migration from the perspective of those who remain, “Mbëkk Mi, the Breath of the Ocean”, those who are on the journey, “Choucha, an Unfathomable Indifference”, and those who return to their homeland, “Tilo Koto”.
